About Village Local

Village local is about 100% FREE web page hosting. Please note that this is not your typical 'web hosting' but rather a host where non-techy people could create their own web pages easily. No programming or systems administration required, simply sign up, login and start creating your site.

 

All sites are given a chance to show up in our list of community sites, each site has a corresponding image that you can customize like 'avatars' to show off. These images may also be included as a map of each village.

 

Please note that the list of sites are currently hand-moderated, so any attempts of spamming or uploading of illegal content will be closely watched and shut down if found.

So, what are the rules for my new site?

  • No hateful / vulgar content or any site promoting violence and such.
  • Pornographic material like images / text / videos or other forms of adult media are not allowed.
  • Leaving the site empty for a long period of time will cause for it to be deleted. 
  • Hosting of illegal content/software, hacking tools will not be accepted and removed without notice.
  • Your pages *may contain a small adsense ad on top, you are not allowed to put any other ads that violates the google adsense terms of service. 
  • Sites should have useful content, informative or should provide some means of entertainment for the visitors ... attempting to gather links or other means to solely promote other sites will not be accepted.

I just changed domain from my root tree, will my backend address change now?

No it won't, you will still use the same backend login url as before.

I'd like to change my domain, is that possible? Can I have multiple domains?

Yes, from your administration page select Web - List - then select the top level page and you will find your domain record. Edit it as desired but for the changes to take effect you will need to contact admin@villagelocal.com to regenerate the links from your old site. If you want to create a new site then it's best to create a new page, add a domain and build up from there. 

 

Multiple domains is possible, you may insert many domain records on any page under your page tree. This will work as long as you point in your domain registrar the proper nameservers required to our server. After doing so, inform admin@villagelocal.com of the new domain so that it will be parked for you.

Can I switch templates?

Yes, simply right click on the root page to get to the page properties and down below you can select the themes.

I'd like to place a picture of my web home! how do I do that?

To replace the default 'house' picture, please login to your administration page, then click on Web - List - Click on the top level of your page tree (a menu appears) then select 'edit page properties', find the field 'Files' and upload a picture from there.

Please keep in mind that images there are resized to 228 width.

 

Note: if you cannot find any field called 'files' then try changing the page type to 'Advanced'.

Are there any rules in uploading a house picture?

Yes:

1. Image must either be a gif or png

2. No background, keep the transparency

3. Make it an image of a 'home', unrelated images will be removed
